Last week on Monday we had a whole school assembly, I couldn't wait because I always look forward to it. I was so glad that we were outside because it was really hot inside the classroom. When we had finished organizing ourselves we finally got started.
We started off with the patrol certificates, I was really excited to receive mine because I've been waiting to get one all my life. Constable Teina gave the certificates to our principal, Mrs Vickers. When we got our certificates I was so relieved that I could show my parents that I've been participating in
school.
I am a Year 8 student at Ruapotaka School in Auckland, NZ. I am in Room 12 and my teachers are Mr Reid and Mrs Golder.

Tired and Puffed Out
Yesterday we had the Athletics Inter-schools competition, we were going against other schools. I was very nervous and scared that other people might beat me but I still tried my best. I had three races which were the 200 and 100 metre run. I was also apart of the relay team.
For the 200 metre heat I placed second so I made it into the finals, but sadly I didn't place. I was still proud of myself though. A while later it was time for the 100 metre race and I came fifth. Then for the relays we came third in the finals and the heat. I was so puffed out and tired when we finished. But I really enjoyed the whole experience and I can't wait to go again next year!

Manaiakalani Film Festival 2017
By bus we arrived at Sylvia Park. But first we had to grab a little child from room one to look after. When we arrived at Sylvia Park we went straight to the movies to go and watch our film. The year eight film was based on rugby values. We also got to watch other schools films. I was so excited and I couldn't wait. The two people that hosted our film was Vaimoana and Meafou. Our film was one of my favorites and Tamaki Primary's film because they had beautiful voices. Also Tamaki Colleges film. After a while the school films were done and I was so exhausted.

Science Experiment - Changing Color :)
This week we done an experiment on how the colors change when spinning a cardboard disc. We used the primary colors red, green, and blue. Room 12 used the primary colors and we combined two colors to form a particular color for example blue and red makes purple. It was so fascinating when it was spinning around so fast that my eyes could't keep up with it.

Orienteering
At school we had orienteering! I was so excited. We had to use maps to figure out where the control is. Before we got started we had to listen to Mr Leon for the instruction so we don't get lost, after that we all hurried outside to begin. I had to find a partner, so I picked Teremoana. One person had to get one of the maps and control and put it in the right place. Teremoana went first to go find out were the control is. She would come back with the same map and control. We all had to do at least 10 or 15. After we came back it was time for lunch time.

DELICIOUS Banana Muffin
Today in tech like usual, the year seven's have cooking. It was held in Tamaki College. I was so delighted to bake something really delicious. My partner was Tupouseini. A while later Mrs Tuipulotu told us what we were making.
It was banana muffin, I was so excited to make it and bake it in the oven but first we had to listen really carefully so we don't do anything wrong. The first thing we had to do was to get out the muffin tray and put in the paper muffin cups, we started to put the oven to 180 degrees Celsius so it could warm up the oven. After that we started we had to get the bowl out, we had to get a banana and squash them, me and my partner was taking turn of mashing it. It was so hard because it gets really difficult once you have to use your muscles. When we finished mashing it we had to get three quarters of milk and pour it in, the next step was to get one and a half cup of S.R.F, self rising flour. Then we got on teaspoon of baking soda, next we had to grab the melting butter, an egg pour in the bowl and mix all the ingredients together. When me and my partner was done mixing we put it in a cup and pour it in the paper muffin cups. Then we placed it into the oven to bake. While we were waiting we just talked and got into our Chromebook. A few minutes later it was done but before we could eat it we waited to cool down. It was so yummy.

Netball Training
Today after lunch we had netball training. I was so excited to play because it was my first time. I didn't know how to play but luckily the people that got in the netball team helped me. I was so relived when they told me what to do. The year 7 & 8, and year 5 & 6 were playing with each other as our training. As we were playing netball, I was playing as WD, wing defense. It was so difficult because I have to stop the ball from reaching the opposition's goal circle. A while later I had to change with Tupouseini because all of us has to have a turn. While I was waiting to swoop with someone was watching the year 5, 6, 7 and 8 play. After that it was time to stop because the bell rang. I can't wait until we play netball later.

Chocolate Muffin With Chocolate Chip......YUMMY!!!!
When we arrived at Tamaki College we rambled straight to Mrs Tuipulotu class where she teaches us how to cook some food. While we strolled to her class I was so excited to cook. When she approached to the door we went straight to get our aprons and we rambled straight to wash our hands so we don't spread any bacteria around while we are cooking. When we had finished we strolled straight on the table and we had to read the ingredients that she had wrote on the board for us. After when we have glanced to the board and saw the ingredients we then had to get the equipment out that we needed.
I was so delighted on want we were making.....we are making chocolate muffin with chocolate chip. I was really excited after when we got the equipment out we had to decide who was do which. It's ether the wet ingredients or the dry. I done the wet and my partner, Julianne done the dry. After when we had finished getting the ingredients we needed we both had to mix it very well before we put it altogether. A while later we mixed it well then we got to put it together in one big bowl and we had to stir it. It was so tiring because we had to use all of our strength to mix the whole mixture. Few minutes later we grabbed the muffin tray and we both placed the paper muffin cups in each section. Later when we were done we popped it into the oven to bake for about 15 to 20 minutes. After when it was done cooking we got our cooking gloves on to get our muffin out. It smelled so delicious I couldn't wait until I eat. But I didn't want to so I saved it for later I couldn't wait to eat it and how it will taste like. Couldn't wait until next time with Mrs Tuipulotu.

A live snake was caught on the tarmac at the Auckland Airport on Sunday after catching a ride on a private on a jet. The MPI say that the snake is a brown tree snake which isn't gonna harm any humans but it could severely harm the native birds population. An MPI snake handler was quickly on the scene and managed to capture the unwanted snake. It appears that the snake had slithered in the wheel housing of a private jet that just arrived from Brisbane, said the MPI manager Craig Hughes. They say that they don't have a snake population in New Zealand. Biosecurity officials are doing their best to stay it that way.

Auckland Civil Defence: Fire service isn't coping with volume of calls
Auckland Civil Defence had a desperate warning, saying there's a lot of flooding and the fire service isn't coping with the number of calls they're getting. Up to 65 millilitres of rain have fallen in Auckland in the last couple of hour. The emergency manager Aaron Davis is urging people to only call if it's an emergency. Aaron Davis says it's smashing areas through from west Auckland through Whenuapai and warned that people should not be driving in this disgusting weather. Mr Davis told Newshub it should be okay to drive again in an hour when the worst passes.
